parisian artist nautil is a music student specialising in acoustics, signal processing, and informatics. his debut single, canopée, utilises analog synths, sampling and personal recordings to emphasize the geometrics of nature and music. on the a-side the lead track, canopée, is a cavernous, pulsing, low-frequency techno colossus destined to hypnotise dark warehouse spaces. on the reverse galdae is a propulsive tecnoid tweaker while mue is designed for head rolling after hours with mesmeric synth drones suspended over a brain melting sub-bass pulse.

alr001 is tech-house based track features one late-night club cut of pure, padded brilliance. the original mix is a meditative, as it blissfully sways between softly thumping bass and euphoric synth snippets. hamburg based well known dj cess (formally from also known from cocoon booking) re-edited the track for dj s with a male spoken monologue that, despite being a tad pretentious, actually kind of weirdly works. fittingly, its the most dance floor appropriate of the bunch and would slip nicely into a bleary-eyed, 6am sunrise set.

with -me and i- and -don t make me- he dropped 2 nice mellow - moody, percussive tracks that have a light deep dark touch - perfect for hot summer nights m.in takes the original track and simply doesn t gives a fuck if its 30° in the shade - his rmx is a highhat driven oldschool peaktime track that makes you sweat your ass off on the dancefloor. own.way takes a closer look an the original textures and brings his remix in a dry, more groovy package

the second release in 2015 comes from the delude records label owner tom almex. its a nasty minimal techno release for starting the summer time.the release contains 2 tracks from tom almex. first track called pornografic - great minimal techno track with nice warm synthesizer.the second track called pecan - a experimental techno track with minimal influences.on the vinyl are 2 pornografic remixes by jase,a young producer from rostock and patrick arbez, the master of dark driving melodic techno.

dark matters kicks off with an ep from label boss amirali dropping in july. the ep features a re-work from future label mate aboutface and a remix from prins thomas. the melodic complexities and hypnotic vocals in amirali’s original mix are re-worked, securing this ep as a confident and stunning debut.

nulectric records starts their first vinyl series with this four tracker, filled with exclusive tracks by its main members.
*hopeful* is the second release on nulectric records by nils bentlage and the first track of the ep. he created a techhouse influenced beat with decent choirs and rolling percussions. philipp lammers and ni no teamed up for *speaking up*, a constant groover filled with hip shaking percussions and glitchy vocal parts. tension continues with a minimalistic and mysterious groover called *dazed*. deep atmos and a jumpy bassline are creating a mood the title is promising. tim rehme follows with his interpetation of deep and dark house. *gravity lane* provides a perfect mood for the afterhours.

a year and a half after black merlin (george thompson) opened the common thread series with the much praised new world fantasy / ice house release george sent over some adventurous bits for a follow up and we were immediately sold. george is a true artist in his own right. all of the black merlin tracks evoke different sentiments. this time around the feeling it bring up is very conflicted. both tracks have those dark aesthetics with elements of paranoia and both also share some apocalyptic elements. it is for this reason that this is the perfect follow up for ct01. instead of just releasing music on vinyl we (with the blessings of zoroaster) are looking to evoke spirits, cross boundaries and maintain quality. major cliches, but with an artist like black merlin on your books, cliches sometimes become truth.

here we have a timely re-release of this much overlooked, later period oliver ho title – this eight track doublepack comes in with a full picture sleeve at a superb price and has a fantastic mixture of styles that reminds of christian morgenstern at his *miscellaneous+ best whilst easily demonstrating its uk techno pedigree.

deeper, harder, warmer... here comes a sixth release from serie limitee records: 250 copies only this time, still 180g and pressed loud. this time, the label is paying its respects to chicago by signing a track from legendary jordan fields. jemaho, also pays tribute the windy city with a jazzy pearl, >from dee to chee<. on the b side, the sl family is glad to welcome two new members: 99letters, a japanese techno talent, and uncle deep for some classic deep vibes. as always, expect a mysterious bonus track by the label manager, monsieur cedric.

this release captures kicks, rhythms, and snares—only to drag them kicking and screaming into a metallic underworld. in j. tijn’s echo-sphere, there are only allusions to the status quo of sound and beats, and never a full-fledged embrace of the conventional. on side a’s “kanon v.i.p.” a grizzly digital war is left to play out between both kick and snare, with grainy battle lines drawn around upbeat and downbeat. survivors of the conflict are rewarded with a groove reminiscent of grime, if only the genre had been reborn in a dystopian future. side b opens with a roughneck beat on “mor” before turning its hand into a fist and effectively destroying its own image. the groove lives through this barrage of sound, but as a heavy and dark undercurrent just strong enough to remind you where j.tijn’s roots are. “shy” lures you in with a rounded electro kick, before glutting the rhythm and ushering in a wall of sound. a snowstorm of screaming drum samples proceed to surround you: you may have been here before, but you are somewhere rhythmically unseen. embedded in all of these tracks are perhaps a sign of the times: the things that used to be seen as normal have now changed and mutated.

michael l penman s lazy boy opens up proceedings on a dark and hypnotic tip with dreamy pad lines, modulating bass tones and weighty distorted rhythms. belgium s igor vicente reworks lazy boy next and provides a more reduced take on things with sparse percussive elements and menacing atmospheres. on the flip side scott kemp turns in sirma , a subtly unfolding groove-led number built around stripped rhythms and soft synth flourishes, while sascha dive rounds off the package by reshaping sirma into a brooding, seven-minute mesmeric workout.
